Being a Good Neighbour
The process for volunteer selection and support
If you would like to join us as a volunteer, we will take care to ensure you are prepared and supported to do so comfortably and safely. Because we provide services to vulnerable people, we also have a duty to them to undertake reasonable checks, including any that are required by law.
In the first place we will send you detailed information about our organisation and about the volunteer roles you are interested in. This will come together with an application form for you to provide us with brief details about yourself and the names of two referees we may write to. If necessary, we may also undertake any statutory checks.
Once we have this, we will arrange a meeting with you to ensure that we and you have all the information needed for you to start as a volunteer. At the same time, we will give you names and telephone numbers of people you can contact for further information or support if necessary.
We will also see that you receive any training you may need to carry out the role/s you are volunteering for.
We hold information 'get-togethers' of volunteers annually and send an annual newsletter to all volunteers and friends to keep everyone up-to-date.
